Based on a statement by androidheadlines.com, it seems that Xiaomi could be working on a smartphone that comes equipped with a 360-degree display. Unfortunately, this smartphone will most likely be merely a concept and will not be mass-produced.

Foldable devices were the hot form factor from 2019 to 2020, but it looks like next year is going to be the year of the rollable device. A few companies have unveiled concept designs of rollable devices so far, including OPPO, LG, and Samsung. Now, rumours claim that Xiaomi will join the gang.

Based on a patent by Huawei that’s spotted on letsgodigital, it seems that Huawei could be planning on developing a smartphone that looks similar to the Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha in the near future. While there’s no news on whether the smartphone will be available in the local market, our source did mention that it will most likely not feature a folding mechanism.

The Xiaomi’s concept phone, Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha was announced in September last year, and it features an awesome surrounding display that we’ve never seen before. With the price of ~RM 11,770, it becomes the most expensive smartphone from the company. Now, it is finally being listed on third-party online merchants like Taobao and Tmall.

A recently patent submitted by Xiaomi seems to resemble the Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha, that was previously unveiled around September 2019. However, the aforementioned smartphone does not feature a tri-fold screen which can then be unfolded into a larger display as demonstrated in the patent.

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has recently announced during the World Internet Conference, stating that they will be releasing up to ten or more 5G-capable smartphones by the year 2020. As of now, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has already unveiled several 5G smartphones such as the Mi 9 Pro 5G, Mi MIX 5G as well as the Mi Mix Alpha concept smartphone which has almost an all-screen body display.

Just this afternoon, the Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro 5G first got introduced but we think that it was the Mi MIX Alpha that got the most attention. Based on an official post on weibo.com by Xiaomi, the image states that the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha is expected to come with a 108MP camera as well as an under-display camera sensor. Not only will the device have a higher screen-to-body ratio due to the fact that the selfie camera is moved under the screen itself, but it is also capable of taking pictures in resolutions as high as 12032x9024.
