Huawei’s in a tight spot right now as many vendors and businesses severe ties with the Chinese manufacturer. It seems like Huawei had anticipated this move for awhile and has been working on their very own OS. Reports have surfaced that the OS may be named “Ark OS” instead of the initially thought HongMeng.

According to the BBC, ARM Holdings, designers of nearly all the smartphone chipsets and processors in the world recently sent out a memo to stop "all active contracts, support entitlements, and any pending engagements” with Huawei due to the US blacklisting. While ARM is a UK-based company owned by Japan-based SoftBank, it purportedly uses “US origin technology” in their designs which are also used in Huawei’s HiSilicon Kirin chipsets. While this means that we could see less Huawei Kirin chipsets in the future, it isn’t all as grim or “insurmountable” as some may believe.

Apparently, realizing that there’s just too many loose ends to shore up, the US Government has just provided Huawei with a temporary license for 3 months that invalidates the previous blacklist. The license in particular states that Huawei suppliers in the US may sell Huawei equipment "necessary to maintain and support existing and currently fully operational networks and equipment, including software updates and patches."

If you thought Google cutting business ties with Huawei wasn’t brutal enough, Qualcomm and Intel have now hopped on the bandwagon as well. The two companies will be cutting chip supplies to the Chinese manufacturer under orders by the Trump administration.

Trade wars have always been brutal and the current trade war between the United States and China is potentially about to leave many Huawei users disappointed. Huawei’s business with Google has been suspended and among the services affected include the transfer of hardware, software and technical services. TL;DR: Huawei users would potentially lose access to popular Google services such as Google Play Store, Gmail and Youtube.
