  • Maxis now lets you trade in ANY smartphone for an Apple iPhone 5s

Maxis now lets you trade in ANY smartphone for an Apple iPhone 5s

Previously Maxis had a trade in program where you could trade in certain smartphones for the Apple iPhone 5s. With the impending release of the next Apple iPhone, Maxis are stepping it up by now accepting all smartphones. A minimum RM200 discount will be given for any smartphone traded in at any Maxis Centre or Maxis Exclusive Partner store in Malaysia. Higher-end or more valuable smartphones get better discounts. As before, this will be done on the Maxis iValue postpaid plan and you will have to sign up for a 24-month contract. Again, all you need to do is bring in the trade-in smartphone itself. Check out the table and links in this article for more details.

  • Maxis lets you trade-in your smartphone for an Apple iPhone 5s starting at RM0

Maxis lets you trade-in your smartphone for an Apple iPhone 5s starting at RM0

As if preparing early for the coming of the Apple iPhone 6, Maxis have opened up a trade-in program for the Apple iPhone 5s. You will need to have an iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, Samsung Galaxy S3 or Galaxy Note 2 you're not using though, as these 4 smartphones are the only ones Maxis will accept for the trade-in. The trade-in period is from now till 31 July 2014 (which sort of makes us think we could see the iPhone 6 sooner than earlier expected). You will have to sign up for a Maxis iValue plan under a 24 month contract though. Loyal Maxis users who have been with Maxis longer than 1 year won't have to pay the advance payment. Maxis won't require you to bring the box, charger or accessories when you trade-in your old smartphone but you'll have to go to a Maxis Center or Maxis Exclusive Partner shop to do the trade-in. Check out the details in the table and links in this article.

  • Rumours: Samsung Project KQ could be premium Galaxy S5 Prime?

Rumours: Samsung Project KQ could be premium Galaxy S5 Prime?

Based on all the variants from the Samsung Galaxy S4, rumours are that the current Samsung Galaxy S5 could also get a number of variants as well, with the latest being Project KQ. The leaked Project KQ could be the more premium version of the Samsung Galaxy S5, otherwise known as the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime with notable tech specs that include a 2K display and a more powerful Samsung Exynos 5430 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor. The Samsung Exynos 5430 was explicitly named in the leak along with the fact that instead of a Qualcomm or Samsung LTE modem, the Project KQ device will be using an Intel XMM7620 LTE modem, or at least for the international version meant for Europe and other non-South Korean locations. No news on Malaysia pricing or release dates but we expect it to be released alongside or before the LG G3 which offers a similar 2K display with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.

  • Samsung Galaxy S5 goes through SUV and drop test

Samsung Galaxy S5 goes through SUV and drop test

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is not only waterproof and dustproof, it is also a lot tougher than it's predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S4. Wanting to see how much tougher the Galaxy S5 is, TechSmartt took both smartphones for a drop test. Going a bit more than the usual head and waist heights, they even did a drop test at about 10 feet, all of which the Galaxy S5 did very well with. In the end, they even drove over it with an SUV. How do you think the Galaxy S5 fared afterwards? Check out the video for yourself in this article.

  • Rumours: Mystery Samsung smartphone (Galaxy S5) with Snapdragon 805 and 5.2-inch 2K display appears?

Rumours: Mystery Samsung smartphone (Galaxy S5) with Snapdragon 805 and 5.2-inch 2K display appears?

A device going by the model of SM-G906S has appeared on the GFXBench website bearing the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor and beating quite a few graphics scores. Initially appearing with a hidden info tab, the tech specs on the device are listed to include a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, Adreno 420 graphics, 3GB RAM, a 5.2-inch display with 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution and features a 16MP rear camera. The model numbering is fairly close to that of the Samsung Galaxy S5 which could mean a more powerful Galaxy S5 version coming out later (which Samsung did do with their Samsung Galaxy S4 when they came out with the Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE+). Then again, it could be an entirely different smartphone as rumours of a more premium Samsung Galaxy F smartphone have been making the rounds as well.

  • Rumours: Samsung Galaxy S5 Active coming?

Rumours: Samsung Galaxy S5 Active coming?

When the Samsung Galaxy S4 first got launched it was quickly followed by a number of other smartphones with the same design but different tech specs and features for specific needs. One of these smartphones was the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active and it was one of the few smartphones from Samsung to get water proofing. While we've yet to hear anything about a Samsung Galaxy S5 Active, mainly because the Samsung Galaxy S5 is already dust and water proof,  @evleaks suggests that a Samsung Galaxy S5 Active smartphone is still coming under the model name of SM-G870x. Instead of just IP67 certification, it could offer MIL-STD-810G certification which would offer proofing for dust, heat, humidity, rain, salt, solar radiation, transportation, shock and vibration on top of just water proofing. No news on specific Malaysia release dates, tech specs or features but the master leaker expects the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active to come by the end of 2014.
