According to Apple, iOS 8 will be available for free download on 17 September 2014. It will be available to users who have an Apple iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5C, iPhone 5S, iPod touch 5th generation, iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad Air, iPad mini and iPad mini with Retina Display. As always, be sure to backup before you download the update, just in case.

ASUS Malaysia recently held a media briefing revealing their tablet plans for Q4 of 2014 and beyond. As recently leaked at TechNave.com, ASUS Malaysia confirmed that we'll be seeing 64-bit Intel processor powered tablets here in Malaysia in the near future. If you can't beat them, then join them seems to be the saying many tablet makers are going for as they strive to overtake the Apple iPad tablets. Following that, HP have announced the HP 8, which is a 7.85-inch display tablet that looks exactly like the first Apple iPad mini. Having bought one of these clones myself already I can't help but wonder if everyone is getting the same aluminum unibody shell from the same supplier as the Apple iPad mini because everything looks nearly the same. Perhaps the iPad mini may have a bit more chrome trim but the design is nearly identical. Tech specs are the same in some aspects as well including the aforementioned 7.85-inch IPS display, which has a 1024 x 768 pixel resolution.

Making good on their word of focusing more on the mid-range and lower-end smartphone market, HTC looks to be coming out with more mid-range devices as the HTC Desire 8 was recently leaked. The 5.5-inch phablet looks to offer a number of tech specs and features which include a 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera. The leaked image shows a nearly buttonless design with mostly on-screen controls. It could also use HTC's BoomSound dual speakers with a possible announce or launch date being 18 March 2014 (based on the date on the screen). Other clues include dual-SIM support. Check out the pic for yourself and see if there are other clues but do stay tuned as we'll keep you updated to any more news.

Perhaps looking to capitalize on the HTC One's success, HTC have been rumoured to be looking into releasing a Windows Phone powered HTC One. According to tipsters, this new Windows Phone HTC One won't be exactly the same as the original HTC One with a screen between 4 and 5 inches.
This version could take the way of the upcoming HTC One Mini which retains the metal chassis, UltraPixel camera and front-facing Beats Audio speakers. We feel that since most Windows Phone smartphones seem to be packing dual-SIM capabilities it would be a good idea for HTC to just take the China-only version instead (which comes with dual-SIM and a removable battery). No news on when exactly it would be available but it is expected in Q3 of 2013 before the holidays and it should also pack in Microsoft's latest Windows Phone 8.1 mobile operating system as well.[ Read More ]
