How are you peeps doing? It has been a somewhat quiet week in the tech industry. Huawei Malaysia wasted no time bringing the Nova 4e into Malaysia even before its China counterpart officially announced it. The vivo V15Pro and V15 have also just been released recently and we got some nice photo samples. But perhaps the most interesting one is when Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp servers were down and everyone panicked. Oh, those poor Instamodels and influencers, we totally "feel" you.

Along with the Liquid Z series smartphones, Acer also unveiled a brand new smartband and a Windows 8.1 powered smartphone. The new Acer Liquid Leap+ will succeed last year's smartband model. The Leap+ features a 1-inch OLED display with 128 x 32 pixel resolution. The smartband can show information such as data from inbuilt sensors, notifications and even music controls. It can calculate the distance travelled, calories burned and even pool activity as it is water proof. Acer claims that the smartband will last up to 7 days on a single charge. The Acer Liquid M220 on the other hand is a Windows 8.1 powered smartphone, featuring modest tech specs. However, the highlight of the device is its Windows 10 compatibility. Tech specs include a 1.2GHz dual core processor with 512MB RAM and 4GB of expandable storage. There will be a small 4-inch display up front which will have a pixel density of just 233 ppi. A 1300 mAh battery will power all these specs. The M220 Windows phone will come in mystic black and pure white. Both the Leap+ and the Liquid M220 will be available for sale in Europe, Africa and Middle Eastern countries for a price tag of 79 Euros (RM320) but they could get a Malaysia release date or pricing details later on.

Acer made a number of announcements at MWC 2015 which includes two new Acer Liquid Z series smartphones and an Acer Liquid Jade Z phone. The Z220 and Z520 phones are targeted at the entry level market and hence features modest tech specs. The Acer Liquid Z220 features a Snapdragon 200 processor with 1GB RAM and 5MP rear camera. There will be a 4-inch display up front. On the other hand, the Acer Liquid Z520 features a faster Snapdragon 400 processor with 1GB RAM and 8MP rear camera unit. The Z520 sports a 5-inch display at the front and will also feature DTS Studio Sound speakers. Coming to the mid-range Acer Liquid Jade Z, the phone comes with a 64-bit MediaTek processor and a 5-inch 720p display with Zero Air Gap technology and Corning Gorilla Glass 3. There will be a 13MP camera at the back and a 5MP front facing one. The Jade Z will measure just 7.9mm in thickness and will weigh about 110 grams. Acer will start selling the Liquid Jade Z and the Liquid Z220 for 199 Euros (RM807) and 89 Euros (RM361) respectively from March 2015 in Europe. The Liquid Z520 will go on sale for 109 Euros (RM442) from April 2015. No Malaysia release or pricing details have been revealed yet.

Recently announced, the Acer Liquid Z410 is a mid-range device which is priced very low to compete with phones like the Xiaomi Redmi 2 and ASUS Pegasus. It comes with a 64-bit MT6732 quad-core processor mated with ARM's Mali-T760 GPU. The phone has a 4.5-inch display with qHD resolution (960 x 540 pixels) which translates into a pixel density of 245 ppi. At the back, there is a 5MP camera with LED flash and up front, there is a 2MP shooter with 80-degree wide angle lens. The Z410 features front-facing speakers with DTS Studio Sound technology and a battery which will reportedly last for up to 5.5 hours or 400 hours of standyby time. Thanks to the processor, the device supports 4G LTE Cat4. The phone also comes with the company's AcerRAPID key below the camera which can be customized according to the user's needs. It even supports Acer QuickTouch gesture controls. No Malaysia release dates or pricing yet but the Acer Liquid Z410 will be available around February end this year in Europe, Middle East and Africa at a price of $155 (RM548).

With Computex set to happen just tomorrow, Acer has revealed 5 new Acer Liquid smartphones, the Acer Iconia 8 tablet and the Acer Liquid Leap smartband. The Acer Liquid smartphones include the Acer Liquid X1, Liquid E700, Liquid E600, Liquid Jade and Liquid Z200. While there wasn't any specific Malaysia release dates or pricing, all of these devices are expected in Q3 of 2014. Tech specs and features for the 7 devices are listed as below:

With the IFA 2013 event upon us, Acer has officially launched it's Acer Liquid S2 as the World's first smartphone with the ability to record 4K video. Powered by a 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, this 6-inch phablet offers full HD IPS display for 368ppi protected by Gorilla Glass 3. Other tech specs and features include a 3300 mAh battery, 16GB storage and microSD support up to 128GB. It packs in a 13MP rear camera with 28mm wide-angle lens with a backside illuminated sensor. The 2MP front camera also has an ultra-wide 88 degree 24mm BSI sensor and supports 1080p video recording.
The Acer Liquid C2 captures 4K Ultra HD video at 60 frames per second and can also do slow motion video. At 166 x 86 x 8.9mm the phablet is quite thin and supports 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, 3G and GPS. At the event, Acer said that it would launch the smartphone late October 2013 in Europe but no detailed information on Malaysia release dates or pricing just yet. According to related news, the Acer Liquid S2 achieves 4K video recording not through it's camera sensor but through the Snapdragon 800 chipset, which may make the chipset synonymous with 4K video recording in general.
