Yesterday, the new One UI 7 software update was supposed to roll out globally, but it seems that Samsung pulled the plug. While Samsung did not make any official announcement as to why it was stopped, sources said it was due to a serious bug.

Finally after a month, Samsung has rolled out the latest One UI 7 update in Malaysia. Starting today (14 April 2025), the new software update will be available starting with the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6.

As previously rumoured, Samsung will indeed offer seven years of software support for the Galaxy S24 Series. It was officially announced by TM Roh, President & Head MX Business of Samsung when he kicked off Galaxy Unpacked a few hours ago. 

It's not often to hear that an Android phone can get up to seven years of updates. But that all changed when Google announced that it will support the Pixel 8 series for up to 7 years of OS upgrades. Although not yet confirmed, sources say Samsung is also planning to follow Google's footsteps. 

When it comes to technologies for mobile devices, factors like size and existing tech limit what companies can do. For instance, you can't fit an 8000mAh battery on a smartphone unless you're willing to increase the size. But Samsung is working on improving battery capacity for its mobile devices.
