The right-to-repair movement achieved yet another victory yesterday after another major tech company has agreed to let users legally self-repair their devices. Announced in its official blog, Google said that the option to self-repair is ‘coming soon’ for Google Pixel devices.

Ana Corrales, Google Consumer Hardware chief operating officer confirmed that the company will be working with iFixit to make it easier for independent repair professionals and skilled consumers to access genuine parts from Google. She further elaborated genuine Pixel spare parts will be available for purchase from iFixit later this year.

Google finally launched a true flagship series a few days ago after deciding not to join the tense competition last year. Along with the Pixel 6 series, the company also introduced its first smartphone chip, Tensor. For so many reasons, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are a pair of good flagship smartphones, and it leads to some customers who purchased the device might not be getting it until next year.

Recently, it was rumoured that the Google Pixel 6 series will launch in October 2021. Also, it's suggested that the Google Whitechapel chipset will come with the AMD GPU found in the Samsung chipset. Now, we have more details thanks to a mobile app.
