While there wasn't any clear big event or device this week, the sheer number of announcements was huge with Vivo announcing their V5 (set for an official announcement in Malaysia next week) along with their X9, X9 Plus and XPlay 5 devices. The more powerful OnePlus 3T got announced rather quietly alongside the downgraded Huawei Mate 9 Lite while Huawei also announced the Huawei Mate 9 Pro for China. Check out the rest in the article.

Samsung's latest device, the Galaxy Note 7 has followed the footsteps of the Galaxy S7 edge in adopting the dual-edge curve screen feature, not only that, let's not forget Xiaomi did it too with the Redmi Pro, along with vivo's own XPlay 5. Other companies like Meizu, OPPO, Huawei and even Apple have been reported to jump on the bandwagon.

As Chinese smartphone manufacturers are getting more reputable globally, they are now looking beyond configurations to stand out in this fierce smartphone competition, they have already nailed high-end specifications, now it's all about the design and camera quality.

In the latest Apple rumour, IHS analyst Kevin Wang, thinks that the 2017 iPhone will feature a dual-curve OLED display that covers the left and right edges of the device. Sounds familiar? Of course, that's exactly how the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge and vivo Xplay 5's display is.

With the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge out and about, the rumour mill is starting to gear up for the next smartphone, which for Samsung would be the Samsung Galaxy Note 6. Rumours indicate that the Note 6 may have 6GB of RAM and a 5.8-inch 2K display. As it is, the Vivo Xplay 5 Elite is already the world's first 6GB RAM smartphone and more are expected to come from other smartphone makers so 6GB of RAM for the Note 6 does sound plausible.

Vivo finally revealed their latest flagship in China late last night, and there are two variants of the line which are the Xplay 5 and Xplay 5 Elite as an advanced version. Both of the designs are similar and the only difference is some of the specifications are changed. Below are the tech specs:-

Vivo is really hyping up their Xplay 5 flagship and it will soon be unveiled on 1 March, already capturing attention across the internet with a monster 6GB RAM announcement just two days ago, the device's benchmark score showed up at AnTuTu and some renders leak as well.

Just in case you missed it, Vivo XPlay 5 will be coming soon on 1 March and previously we heard a rumour that it will feature a powerful 6GB RAM which we thought it's a bit far fetch. My, how wrong we were. Turns out that's the real deal.
Aside from the 6GB RAM surprise, the XPlay 5 will also sport the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor inside the hood. And the body design is dual edge curved display as well just like theSamsung's Galaxy S6 and recently announced Galaxy S7 line. So far, those are the only confirmation we got from their teaser posters. Other rumours that we read that it could have a large 6-inch display, 16MP rear camera, 8MP front camera and a huge 4300 mAh battery.

A teaser poster by Vivo appeared yesterday hinting a new device called the “Xplay 5S” will come soon, well, turns out that's only half-true because Vivo just released another teaser poster confirming the actual name – Vivo Xplay 5, along with an important feature too.
The first feature that the company wanted to highlight is the dual curved screens, which appeared in yesterday’s teaser poster actually. It actually seem like it's from the top of the device only but at least we now know that the device itself will come with a borderless design. Since that's the case, that will make Vivo the second company to use a curved screen panel aside from Samsung.
