As the title suggests, the WhatsApp smartwatch app is now available on Wear OS. It was announced by Mark Zuckerberg a few hours ago via his Meta Channel broadcast.

Previously, we reported that Google Maps on Wear OS 3 smartwatches now support turn-by-turn navigation without the need to link to a smartphone. Now, the Wear OS app has gotten another significant upgrade whereby users can let the display be continuously on while using Google Maps.

Previously, we reported on Google’s plans to introduce standalone Google Maps navigation support on Wear OS. True to its words, the tech giant recently announced that turn-by-turn Google Maps navigation on Wear OS without a smartphone is now available to users. 

Yesterday during the Galaxy Unpacked 2022 event, Samsung unveiled its new Galaxy Watch5 Series powered by Google’s Wear OS, which directly showed glimpses of the OS’ future. These include a redesigned Play Store for Wear OS, support for offline Google Maps navigation and more.

Google Wear OS is bringing this not-so-significant but much-appreciated feature to the wearables soon. It's reported that the upcoming update will finally allow users to flip the display according to the orientation of the smartwatch.

For those who didn't know, Google's Wear OS 3.0 brought cool features to the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4. One of them is offline music, which was eventually added to Wear OS 2.0 devices. Spotify got this update last month, and now YouTube Music has the same update.

By combining Samsung's Tizen and Fitbit's popular features, the new Wear OS is expected to bring an improved user experience to the Android smartwatches.

Google I/O 2021 has been scheduled to take place starting from 18 to 20 May. At the event, the tech giant could be announcing Android 12, Pixel 5a smartphone, and more. However, a session titled "Create your first Tile in Wear" has caught attention by signaling that the Wear OS could be getting a big update.
