Available on 1 March 2017 at authorized resellers, the OPPO R9s Plus features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 processor, 6GB RAM, 64GB storage (up to 128GB microSD) and a 6-inch full HD display.

After rumours about pinecones, Xiaomi officially announced their first Surge S1 SoC (System on Chip) processor. Turns out Pinecone is the research subsidiary that designed and developed the 28nm Surge S1 which is now being used to power the Xiaomi Mi 5C. The Surge S1 is an octa-core ARM Cortex A53 processor (4 x 2.2GHz A53 + 4 x 1.4GHz A53) with a Mali T-860 MP4 graphics processor. According to Xiaomi it has outperformed the Snapdragon 625 and can decode 4K video, support VoLTE via a 32-bit DSP while an integrated 14-bit dual ISP allows it to take pictures in low-light.

GSMA have announced that the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge has been awarded the Best Smartphone 2016 for this year's MWC 2017. Previously named the best smartphone for last year's MWC, this year the Galaxy S7 edge went up against the Huawei P9, Apple iPhone 7 Plus, Google Pixel XL and Moto Z.

Apart from announcing the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus, Lenovo also announced a number of other devices including the Yoga 720 and Yoga 520 convertibles, the all-rounder detachable Miix 320 and 4 budget Tab 4 series tablets. The Yoga 720 and Yoga 520 laptops convert into flip form with 13, 14 and 15-inch displays that are powered by 7th Gen Intel core i7 processor, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 discrete graphics and super slim 14.3mm thin bodies. The Miix 320 on the other hand is designed to be the all-rounder of the bunch with a detachable 10.1-inch full HD display, Windows 10, optional 4G LTE and 10 hour battery life.

While the Huawei P10 and P10 Plus are still recently announced, rumours have sprung up about the little brother of the trio, the Huawei P10 Lite. Listed on pre-order for Europe, the Huawei P10 Lite is priced at €349 (~RM1639) in black, gold and white. No Malaysia release dates of course but it is expected around March. Features and tech specs include a Kirin 655 processor, 4GB RAM, 32GB storage + microSD support, a 5.2-inch fHD display, 12MP rear camera, 8MP front camera, 3000 mAh battery, Android 7.0 and EMUI 5.1.
