The Redmi K40 series is just around the corner with the launch scheduled to happen next month. Earlier, it was rumoured that the series would bring a device powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 888 chipset as the Pro variant. For the standard variant, we took a guess on MediaTek's 6nm Dimensity chipsets. However, the latest source is claiming that the vanilla Redmi K40 will use the new Snapdragon 870 chipset instead.

Based on a statement by Redmi’s product director on Weibo, it seems that there will be 2 variants of the Redmi K40 that will come equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset. Other than what was mentioned, there is no exact information in regards to the exact variant that will come equipped with the aforementioned chipset.

It seems that Redmi have confirmed that the upcoming Redmi K40 series will come equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity chipset that was made using the 6nm manufacturing process. While there is no official information in regards to the aforementioned chipset, the Dimensity variant will most likely be released alongside a Snapdragon 888 variant at launch.

Based on a statement by @UniverseIce, it seems that the upcoming Xiaomi Redmi K40 that’s typically available in the Chinese market, is expected to come equipped with the SD888 chipset and it’s priced at RMB2999 (~RM1872). While not much is known in regards to the Malaysian release date, it does give us a better idea in regards to the tech specs and pricing when it comes to the Malaysian variant of the device in question.

Way back in June of last year, rumours of a Redmi K40 series starting popping up. Some claimed that Xiaomi would launch it at the end of 2020, but it looks like Xiaomi decided to delay that plan. Now, sources claim it could be coming soon with a MediaTek chipset.
