A perk of having a Xiaomi device is that even its oldest phones still receive updates till this day. At least, until now. The Chinese manufacturer made an announcement on their forums stating 7 Redmi devices will cease to receive any form of software support.

Hey Xiaomi fans, MIUI 10 is coming upon us and the company just released a scheduled date for all Mi devices to receive an Over-The-Air (OTA) update soon. Since 29 June 2018, the Mi series such as the Mi 8, Mi 8 SE, Mi Mix 2S, Mi Mix 2, Mi Mix, Mi 6X, Mi 5 and Mi Note have gotten the update. The following update will be for the Redmi series in July this month.

Good news for Xiaomi fans everywhere, MIUI 9 Global ROM 7.9.7 update is now live and the third batch of Xiaomi smartphones are now eligible to download it which you can get it from Xiaomi's forum thread here. Below is the list the third batch that can be updated:

Xiaomi just announced that the latest MIUI 8.2 update is now rolling out to most of the Xiaomi phones made over the last 2 years. These devices would progressively receive the update over-the-air (OTA) through the Updater app. Users can also run a manual update by downloading the update from here too.

The folks at Mi Malaysia have made it official with the announcement of the Xiaomi Redmi 3S. Available on 24 September 2016 via Lazada and their distributor ERA International Network, the Redmi 3S will be on pre-order from 17 September with 2 variants, the 3GB RAM / 32GB storage version coming in at RM699 while the 2GB RAM / 16GB storage version is priced at RM599. Featuring a 4100 mAh battery, fingerprint sensor and metal body, you can also head to their Facebook page for a chance to win a mystery prize.

This week on Weekly TechNave, Samsung Malaysia went entry-level in a big way with the official announcement of their Galaxy J 2016 series. Entering the every crowding affordable market is the new Xiaomi Redmi 3s, the update to their earlier Redmi 3. The overall design is about the same, but it now has a better processor (Snapdragon 430) and a fingerprint scanner – all from only CNY 699 (~RM 434).
