It seems to be a trend in the tablet industry these days where someone takes the aluminum shell and display of the Apple iPad mini and deck it out with their own internal tech specs, features and branding. This time around we have the Acer A1-830 which predictably has a 7.9-inch display with 1024 x 768 pixel resolution and 4:3 aspect ratio. While it does run on Android, the internal tech specs include a 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z2560 processor and 1GB of DDR2 RAM. The tablet has a front and rear camera (details of which Acer hasn't revealed but probably include a 5MP rear camera and 2MP front camera), dual speakers, 16GB of storage and microSD support. The tablet comes with an appropriately sized Acer Crunch keyboard cover and an Acer Crunch Cover. The Acer A1-830 will initially be available in the US and Canada starting from Q1 2014 but we should be able to expect a Malaysia release date sometime afterwards.

Fujifilm recently announced the X-A1 DSLR digital camera, featuring an X-mount mirrorless digital camera body targeting the entry-level market. The X-A1 looks a lot like the X-M1 but uses a 16MP sensor with conventional Bayer color filter array unlike the other X-series models which use the X-Trans design. The X-A1 still has some interesting tech specs and features including a 920k-dot tilting rear screen and built-in WiFi along with an EXR Processor II to help increase the overall speed performance. Since it is an entry-level model the price is $599 (RM1929) with the XC 16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OIS standard zoom. Despite this the X-A1 should still offer a good starting point for those just going into DSLRs as the kit offers a compact yet lightweight body with good features and an above average zoom lens.

For quite some time now we've been watching renders of "the most powerful BlackBerry device ever" and seen the numerous spec leaks of what we've all come to know as the BlackBerry Aristo A10. However, new rumours are about that it may not actually be called that in the end as so far BlackBerry only have two product lines under the names of 'Q' for the devices with physical QWERTY keyboards and 'Z' for those with touch screens. Rather than be called the A10, which designates it as a completely different product some industry watchers are expecting it to be called the BlackBerry Z30. For some, this makes more sense as the Aristo is a larger touch screen device in the same line as theBlackBerry Z10. However, this still doesn't explain why it would be Z30 and not Z20 as there is still no Z20 device just yet.

If there's one thing we like better than gadgets, it's accidentally breaking gadgets. Why, just today we pulled the headphones out of an Acer Iconia Tab A100 tablet, and broke the case. Needless to say, we spent several minutes giggling like a naughty schoolboy, then popped it back and ran off to the nearest Wi-Fi hotspot to tell you all about it.
In Acer's defence, the A100 we saw was a pre-production version, and had probably been manhandled more times than an ageing courtesan: it was a demo version of the forthcoming 7-inch Android tablet being shown off, and from the looks of them they're probably not very gentle.
Acer Iconia Tab A100 - Design & Build:
Breakages aside, the A100 looks like a neat little tablet on paper. It's packed with features and connections, including HDMI, USB and mini-USB. It can output high-definition video to your TV and is powered by a dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor.
