This week on Weekly TechNave, Samsung Malaysia went entry-level in a big way with the official announcement of their Galaxy J 2016 series. Of note was the Samsung Galaxy J1 2016 priced at below RM450 but packing a free Yes 4G LTE SIM with 30GB of data preloaded for 2 months. Honor Malaysia officially revealed the more powerful and beautiful honor 5C for RM799 while the Xiaomi Mi 5 finally landed in Malaysia for RM1549 at non-online shops.

Samsung Malaysia Electronics have just announced their new Samsung Galaxy J 2016 series with the Galaxy J1 2016, Galaxy J5 2016 and Galaxy J7 2016. The Galaxy J3 2016 priced at RM649 is already available but the Galaxy J1 2016, Galaxy J5 2016 and Galaxy J7 2016 will be available in Malaysia tomorrow at RM449, RM849 and RM1049 respectively, with only these three coming with a free YES 4G LTE prepaid SIM card with 2 months of 30GB of data. This offer is also only available while stocks last, so if you're in for freebies and value, you know what you have to do tomorrow.

Yes Super 88 PostPaid Plan swings into Year of the Monkey with 11GB + free limited edition Huddle XS

In time for the Chinese New Year and the Year of the Monkey, the plan offers plenty of Red Packages including a limited edition Huddle XS worth RM509 and 11GB of Data. The promotion for the Yes Super 88 Postpaid Plan will begin from today till 29 February 2016 for only RM88 a month (which comes up to RM93.28 with GST) with an activation fee of RM100 and one month commitment fee of RM88 which will be rebated back during the 12-month subscription period of the plan.

While Maxis, Celcom and other Telcos are currently offering higher-speed 4G LTE networks, YES 4G or YTL Communications has been rather quiet. This all changed when YES 4G announced that they would be coming out with their 4G LTE network in 2014. No specific Malaysia release dates were mentioned but the announcement is more or less official having come from Dato' Yeoh Seok Hong, Executive Director of YTL Communications. One interesting fact for the YES 4G LTE service is that rather than fall back onto 3G mobile connectivity, the YES 4G LTE will go to WiMAX should there be a problem connecting to the LTE network. No news on pricing but we should find out about this soon enough so stay tuned and we'll keep you posted.

The peak data runs from 8AM until 2AM while the off-peak data ranges from 2AM to 8AM.
