Apple has tweaked how AirDrop functions on the iPhone, whereby users now only have the option to toggle AirDrop sharing with ‘Everyone’ for 10 minutes. Previously, the toggle allows you to always keep AirDrop on, thus allowing anyone nearby to share files with you.

At the moment, only the majority of customers in the US have gotten their hands on the iPhone 14 series. But at the same time, some of them are reporting a few software issues. We already know about the camera buzzing sounds and activation problem, now there are even more of them surfacing online.

Previously, vivo, OPPO and Xiaomi have teamed up to launch a file transfer system that can be deemed as the Android version of Apple's AirDrop. However, the file transfer system could only work between devices from these three brands, and it's not enough. Now, it has been announced that four more brands including OnePlus, Realme, Xiaomi's Black Shark and Meizu are joining the alliance as well, which could eventually lead to more brands joining to take a chance against the AirDrop.

Google employees may be working remotely from home, but they are also developing Android 11 as we speak. In this latest update, the second developer preview of Android 11 has been rolled out by the company and one of the highlighted features is an AirDrop-like function. Previously known as Fast Share, it has been renamed to Nearby Sharing but it could be a placeholder name for now. Anyway, here's what we know.

Some Android users have been asking for a quick file sharing feature for a long time. Many wish for an Android version of Apple's AirDrop, as it allows for the transfer of files between Apple computers and devices wirelessly without needing internet connectivity or sharing storage devices. Google has been working on one called Nearby Sharing, but now it seems Samsung is creating its own version as well.

AirDrop is undeniably one of the strongest features from Apple's ecosystem. When it comes to file sharing, the feature works seamlessly without all the hassles that we encounter on Android smartphones. For that, Google has launched the Android Beam earlier to provide local sharing functionality, but then it has been renamed as Fast Share on Android 10. Now, a source is telling us that the feature is getting its name changed again, this time it will be called Nearby Sharing.
