While we are still waiting from Huawei Malaysia on the Mate 40 series release for the Malaysian market, there is already some news on the P50 series. Typically, the P-series would be unveiled during the first quarter of the year and someone just rendered the P50 Pro model.

After launching the Mate 40 series and a 5nm chipset, HUAWEI might have started working hard again to bring the P50 series to the market early next year. It is reported that the Chinese tech giant will launch the P50 series in the first half of 2021.
According to The Elec, not only the HUAWEI P50 series will be launched in H1 2021, but will also feature the 5nm Kirin 9000 chipset. However, the CEO of HUAWEI Yu Richard has stated that the Mate 40 was the last to have Kirin 9000 on board. Therefore, it is unsure if the company has the interest to bring the legacy of Kirin 9000 to the next flagship series.

Based on a report by 36kr.com, it seems that the upcoming Huawei P50 series may use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipset instead of HiSilicon Kirin 9000 chipset due to a trade ban set by the US. With that in mind, there is a huge possibility that the aforementioned smartphone series could be unveiled around Q1 2021 and it could come equipped with the top of the line Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 chipset.

HUAWEI’s next flagship phone the HUAWEI P50 is officially reported to be the next flagship of 2021 coming with the same 5nm chipset as the Mate 40. But due to the licensing issue face from the United State, the company might not be able to use the HiSilicon chipset and may use a third party 5nm processing next year.

Despite the trade sanctions implemented by the US, Huawei is still carrying its development further for their next-generation devices. It is said that the next 5nm Kirin processor will be launched on time without any delay. Therefore, the highly anticipated Mate 40 series is expected to be launched according to the original schedule as well.

John Vinh from KeyBanc Capital Markets recently released a statement, claiming that there could be a possibility Huawei smartphones such as the Huawei P50 and Mate 50 series could come equipped with Qualcomm chipsets instead. This is largely due to the fact that the United States government unveiled a new set of rules which makes it harder for Huawei to access manufacturing hardware from the country.
