In just a day left until the new Xiaomi Mi 5X launches (26 July 2017), we have already shown you the official renders of the phone last week. Said to face off with vivo and OPPO in the battle of selfies, pre-order registration for the phone has already begun on their website for a price of 1999 Yuan (~RM1267) and it will officially go on sale on 1 August 2017 in China first.

Invites for a Xiaomi event have appeared indicating that the next Xiaomi device to be launched could be the Xiaomi Mi 5X. The teaser doesn't reveal much asides from a dual rear camera, fingerprint sensor and somewhat metallic looking body but it could also be announced with MIUI 9.

Today, Xiaomi has announced three new Mi Ecosystem products - the Mi Laser Projector, Ninebot Plus, and a Mi Ultrasonic Toothbrush for the China market. The projector will come first on 4 July 2017 for 9999 Yuan (~RM6320), followed by the Ninebot Plus for 3499 Yuan (~RM2211) on 11 July, then finally the electronic toothbrush on 18 July for 199 Yuan (~RM125).

Today, turns out that there was no Xiaomi Mi 6 Plus, as only the Mi 6 was revealed in mainland China. The Mi 6 will be the company’s first device to use the latest Snapdragon 835 processor. It will be available on 28 April 2017 on Mi.com and every Mi Home stores in China. As for other countries’ release, Xiaomi announced that the Mi 6 will make its way to selected market at a later date. Below is the official specifications:

Asides from announcing their dual curved edge display Xiaomi Mi Note 2, Xiaomi also announced their affordable Mi VR headset for just 199 CNY (RM122). Compatible with the Mi Note 2, the Mi VR features a 16ms ultra-low latency for less motion sickness bundled with a hardware-based 9-axis inertial motion sensor controller. No Malaysia release date for this or whether or not we'll be getting this but it would certainly be a cool accessory to go with the Mi Note 2.

It's been a month since Xiaomi Mi 5 was revealed, and many fans were wondering if the Mi 5 Pro Edition will actually be out. Well, seems like the fans won't have to ponder anymore because according to Zhongyu Fei, a Xiaomi Executive, the Mi 5 Pro Edition is on the way and will be on sale soon.

This coming season, Xiaomi will be launching a Christmas sale on 10 December until 12 December 2015 on their website. The highlights of the sale is the Santa’s Special Bundle which includes the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 + 10000 mAh Mi power bank Christmas Edition + Mi Teddy Bunnies for just RM709.
The second highlight is other bundles - such as the Santa Claus Bundle, Rudolph Bundle and the Jingle Bells Bundle with a slashed price; and a free soft case with a Mi Note purchase or free rechargeable battery with Redmi 2 purchase for RM1549 or RM399 respectively.

Xiaomi recently announced the launch of their Xiaomi Mi 4c smartphone for China. Priced from RMB1299 (RM880) for the version with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage, the Mi 4c will also come in a version with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage for RMB1499 (RM1015). Other tech specs include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, 5-inch FHD display, 13MP rear camera with Sony/Samsung sensor and the latest USB Type-C port with quick charge 2.0. The latest feature includes Edge Tap which allows the phone to respond to light taps on the sides. A double tap on one side allows you to go back easily without having to stretch for the Back button, and a single tap on the side while in the camera app snaps a photo. A double tap on the screen wakes the phone. No Malaysia release dates or official Malaysia pricing details yet but the Mi 4c will be available in China on 23 September 2015. In related news, Xiaomi also launched their Mi Mobile MVNO service with two prepaid SIM card offerings. Users have a choice to pay as you go or get a bundle plan with 3GB data. Both plans support 4G LTE and come with a triple-cut SIM card for all sizes.

The recent Xiaomi Mi Fan Festival 2015 has broken world records by selling 2.11 million phones in just 12 hours worldwide. The total revenue for the sales came up to a staggering RMB2.08 billion (RM1.22 billion) in a single day. This years Mi Fan Festival 2015 also included India, Indonesia and Malaysia which could have contributed to the world record breaking sales somewhat. The sales also included other products like Mi TVs, Mi Bands and Mi Power Strips. This excellent performance further vindicates Xiaomi's online sales methodology proving without a doubt that it is a very lucrative way to sell phones and other devices. We expect other phone and tech manufacturers to follow soon and more online sales from Xiaomi in the future.
