Thought HTC would just stick to the ultra-niche VR headset market? Guess again, because HTC has decided to launch a direct competitor to the Ray-Beta Meta glasses. The company has launched the HTC VIVE Eagle in Taiwan for NTD 15600 (~RM2190).

Part of the HTC Vive engineering team has been acquired by Google for $250 million. According to TechCrunch, the team's expertise in the virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (MR) space will be used by Google to drive the development of its Android XR operating system. This is the second time Google has acquired a team from HTC. Eight years ago, they acquired the design team to produce the Google Pixel for $1.1 billion.

As advertised, HTC unveiled its latest HTC U24 Pro phone. Like the predecessor, it's unlikely to launch globally, let alone Malaysia so the best we can do is just check out the tech specs, features and price.

While Computex 2024 comes to a close, HTC suddenly made a surprise announcement that a new phone will be launching soon. Scheduled to debut on 12 June 2024 at 8 AM in Taiwan, the next phone could be the HTC U24 Pro.

After quite some time since their last upper midranger, HTC has announced the U23 Pro for Taiwan. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset, other tech specs include 8GB / 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage (and microSD card slot) and a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a FHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The 8GB RAM variant is priced from 16990 TWD (~RM2504) while the 12GB RAM version goes for 17999 TWD (~RM2652).

Although VR has been around for years, it remains a tech that few are interested in. This is not just because of pricing, but also things like needing space for trackers or the headsets being too heavy. Well, HTC's new VR/AR headset was designed to address those issues.

With 2023 around the corner, tech companies are preparing for CES 2023 (5-8 January 2023). There would be over 3000 exhibitors at the in-person event this time, with one of them being HTC. Specifically, the company will show off a new AR/VR headset.

HTC yesterday released the HTC A101, a mid-range tablet in South Africa and Russia powered by a Unisoc T608 processor. Featuring a metal-body design, the A101 sports a 10-inch 60Hz LCD display with a resolution of 1920x1200 pixels with rather thick bezels.

Back in March, the once smartphone maker juggernaut, HTC announced that it's planning to its own metaverse ecosystem with VR, AR, AI, 5G & NFTs. Seems like the company is ready to showcase some Viverse technologies soon on 28 June 2022.

HTC was once a solid contender in the smartphone industry but has fallen out of the race due to the fierce competition among the players. That said, HTC is not entirely dead yet as they still develop other kinds of technologies around the world.
