This week on Weekly TechNave, Samsung Malaysia went entry-level in a big way with the official announcement of their Galaxy J 2016 series. Of note was the Samsung Galaxy J1 2016 priced at below RM450 but packing a free Yes 4G LTE SIM with 30GB of data preloaded for 2 months. Honor Malaysia officially revealed the more powerful and beautiful honor 5C for RM799 while the Xiaomi Mi 5 finally landed in Malaysia for RM1549 at non-online shops.

Today, Huawei honor Malaysia is proud to present the latest addition to its family of handsets – the all new mid-range honor 5C smartphone, equipped with a 16nm Kirin 650 chipset and it's actually priced RM799 in Grey and Silver, while the Gold version is RM849. Customers can go pre-order the device on 20 June 2016 at Vmall Malaysia or Lazada Malaysia. Below is the official specification:

The good folks at Honor Malaysia have confirmed that the honor 5C will be coming to Malaysia. No specific Malaysia release dates or pricing details yet but it was announced in China for $138 (~RM537). Featuring a Kirin 650 processor and 5.2-inch full HD display, the smartphone will also carry Android 6.0 Marshmallow, which are better tech specs than the current honor 5X.

This week there wasn't any major event or device that stood out in tech, but we did see notable new entries with the announcement of the Samsung Galaxy C5 and C7 smartphones while Xiaomi launched their affordable 4K video recording Mi Drone. Pebble announced some new wearables and the rumours were rife as usual but the more notable one included that the honor 5C could be coming to Malaysia next month while something better and more beautiful would be coming from honor in Q3.

It looks like the Kirin 650 powered Huawei honor 5C could be coming to Malaysia as soon as next month. Previously announced in China for about $138 (around RM537) the rumour comes courtesy of a dependable source in honor Malaysia. Here's the honor 5C tech specs for a refresher:

- 16GB internal storage (expandable memory available)

Huawei seems to be on a roll here, as they just revealed a new mid-range smartphone, the Huawei honor 5C in China with a price tag of $138 (around RM537) and stands as a true successor to the honor 4C. Below are the official tech-specs:

Huawei could be aabout to announce the Honor 5C as their new member of the Honor Series but recently, an Antutu benchmark result was found showing us the performance of the Kirin 650 SoC. By looking at the benchmarking app, we can see the model code of the device is “NEM-T00L" and is powered by a Kirin 650 octa-core SoC with eight Cortex-A53, four cores with 2.0Ghz and another four with 1.7Ghz.
The GPU is Mali-T380 as shown and it is probably manufactured by TSMC using the 16m, process. As for tech specs, the Honor 5C could come with a 5.2-inch FHD display, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, 13MP primary camera and an 8MP secondary camera. It will be running Android 6.0.

From our last report of the rumoured Huawei Honor 5C, there are reports that the device has passed TENAA certification, but disappeared shortly after by the Chinese website admin. Although taken down, someone managed to get a screenshot of the device and spec sheet.

While the hype of Huawei's latest flagship, the P9, P9 Plus and the recently announced P9 Lite is still going on. It seems that Huawei can now focus on their next device of the honor series and it's reported that the honor 5C could be revealed next week on 13 April according to the teaser image.
