Today, Celcom Axiata Berhad has signed a new agreement on joining IC5G at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). IC5G is an initiative by UTM and Ericsson back in 2015, where its research and development on 5G technology is conducted for the benefit of students and industry professionals.

Earlier today, telco companies such as Celcom, Maxis, U Mobile, DiGi and more have showcased their 5G solutions in Putrajaya earlier today. At the test bed, many of the telcos gave a brief introduction to the 5G technology as well as the benefits that this new network will bring such as higher bandwidth with speeds of up to or even more than 1.6Gbps, lower latency, greater stability, better reception in a crowded area and so on. The network has also been used to conduct a remote brain surgery, in which the surgeon and the patient were more than 3000km apart.

Opensignal is back with their Mobile Network Experience Report for April 2019 and this time Maxis and Celcom are vying for the top spot with each retaining clear positions like Download Speed Experience (Maxis) and 4G Availability (Celcom). Both are neck and neck in Video Experience though while Maxis retains best Latency Experience and Celcom achieves best Upload Speed experience, for a draw for top spot.

Today, Celcom has announced that its own eSIM (embedded SIM) package is now available. According to their website, only three phones are eligible for eSIM which are the Apple iPhone XS 64GB, iPhone XS Max 64GB and the iPhone XR 64GB model starting from RM58 per month.

How are you peeps doing? It has been a somewhat quiet week in the tech industry. Huawei Malaysia wasted no time bringing the Nova 4e into Malaysia even before its China counterpart officially announced it. The vivo V15Pro and V15 have also just been released recently and we got some nice photo samples. But perhaps the most interesting one is when Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp servers were down and everyone panicked. Oh, those poor Instamodels and influencers, we totally "feel" you.
