In this short news, CIMB Malaysia just announced that from 19 March 2023 onwards, all FPX transactions above RM100 will require SecureTAC approval. This is in line with the regulator’s direction to combat financial scams.

CIMB Bank Bhd and CIMB Islamic Bank Bhd (CIMB) have announced that they are implementing several measures to strengthen the security of their digital banking platforms. Among the measures is a mandatory call verification process that will go into effect starting today (26 December 2022).

CIMB Bank Bhd and CIMB Islamic Bank Bhd (CIMB) have recently announced several new security measures for the CIMB Clicks and CIMB OCTO apps. Aimed at combating fraud and strengthening the security of their digital banking platforms, these measures include compulsory SecureTAC authorisation via the CIMB Clicks App for transactions over RM100.

Today, Google Malaysia is excited to announce Google Wallet is now available in Malaysia. Like other eWallets, Google Wallet provides a simpler and other helpful payment experience to people, as well as supporting digital items such as boarding passes and credit cards. 

Following the directive by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) to move away from OTP to more secure authentication, CIMB Group has announced that it will cease the use of OTP by the first half of 2023. Instead, the bank will only use its SecureTAC for customers’ online banking authentication moving forward.

CIMB Bank has reminded its customers to update the CIMB Clicks mobile app to the latest version to continue using it smoothly and with uninterrupted services. Announced on its official website, CIMB said that users must update the mobile app before 8 October 2022.

Today, CIMB Bank Berhad and CIMB Islamic Bank Berhad introduced the early release of the CIMB OCTO App. Although it's still in the early stages, CIMB customers can now start using it and provide their feedback before the app’s full release.

Amidst reports of CIMB Clicks accounts being hacked, emptied and so forth on Social Media, CIMB Malaysia have come out with an official statement confirming that they have officially introduced a Captcha function at login along with longer passwords for more security. The statement says “... CIMBClicks system remains secure and all customers' transactions continue to be protected” so take a deep breath and calm down.

While Samsung's Galaxy Gear smartwatch is expected to be revealed in early September 2013, an analyst from the CIMB Group has said that the Apple iWatch may come in late 2014 and not early 2014 as many have thought. According to this analyst the iWatch will be priced from $149 (RM494) to $229 (RM760) and positioned to replace Apple's iPod range of media players. Since this is a financial analyst, the predictions go on to estimate that the iWatch will ship up to 63.4 million units in 2014 alone and will generate up to 19% worth of profits for Invetec, the company said to be manufacturing the Apple iWatch. As it is just a prediction and a really far ahead one at that, we caution you to take this rumour with one big pinch of salt.
