Believe it or not, there have now been 3 generations of the ASUS ZenFone smartphones with the ASUS ZenFone 4 series announcement just around the corner. As we come up to it, here are some features we hope ASUS will implement for their 4th generation ZenFone series (some of which probably seem like longshots now with all the rumours but here they are). 

The original ASUS ZenFone Zoom aimed to offer the most powerful Intel mobile processor, plenty of storage and a 3X optical zoom for what would be the best ASUS ZenFone cameraphone. Unfortunately, things didn't turn out that way as competitors beat it to the punch with sleeker designs, better camera sensors and processors. Learning well from this lesson, ASUS have released the ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom ZE553KL as one of the first around RM2K Dual Pixel and dual rear camera equipped smartphones in the Malaysian market. ASUS is finally starting its Android Nougat update rollout. They are kicking it off with the ASUS ZenFone 3 Deluxe, but it’s for the smaller 5.5-inch (ZS550KL) model for now.

This week Malaysia saw the Bajet 2017, with a proposed increase in broadband speeds at the same price rate from January 2017, while Malaysia's telcos all came out with their respective Apple iPhone 7 deals. This includes Maxis with their trade up and RealView stock checker, along with U Mobile and their UPackage plan.

Today, ASUS Malaysia has announced that the long awaited ASUS ZenFone 3 Deluxe has finally arrived in Malaysia as promised. Coming in two variants based on their storage capacity (64GB ROM and 256GB ROM) and a slightly different processor (Snapdragon 820 clocking @ 2.15GHz and Snapdragon 821 @ 2.4GHz); the Shimmer Gold and Glacier Silver smartphone is priced at RM2599 and RM3299 respectively. Fans of phone tablets or phones with larger than 6-inch displays will often note that they don't get powerful tech specs or a premium design with their large display devices, at least until now as the ASUS ZenFone 3 Ultra ZU680KL packs in a 6.8-inch full HD display, 4GB RAM, 23MP rear camera, 8MP front camera, 4600 mAh battery and more in a premium flat and thin all metal body with “invisible” antennas. Is it the powerful all-in-one phone tablet we’ve all been waiting for?

The biggest announcement of the week remains the Google Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones along with their Daydream View headset and a number of other devices. As the first wholly made by Google devices they look to phase out the Nexus range but you can check out all the highlights in our Google Pixel under 6 minutes video. 

With the Google Pixel and Pixel XL phones officially announced already, we couldn't help but make some quick comparisons with the phones using our tech spec comparison tool. You can see some of our comparisons in the links below but clearly the Pixel and Pixel XL bring Electronic Image Stabilization and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor to the table, features which can be seen in both the Huawei Nexus 6P and ASUS ZenFone 3 Deluxe.

ASUS Malaysia recently revealed that their ASUS ZenFone 3 Max ZC520TL smartphone is now available at the online ASUS Malaysia Store for RM799. Joining the ZenFone 3 ZE552KL and ZE520KL alongside the ZenFone 3 Ultra ZU680KL, the good folks at ASUS Malaysia also revealed that the ZenFone 3 Laser ZC551KL going for RM999 will be available in mid-October 2016.
