Malaysia’s journey towards smarter, greener mobility reached a historic milestone today as the all-new Proton e.MAS 5 made its first public appearance at the National Day Parade in Putrajaya. So, what should you know about it?

Proton’s first dedicated electric vehicle (EV) plant in Tanjung Malim is almost ready and is expected to begin operations in September 2025.

Today, Touch ‘n Go Sdn. Bhd. and PROTON have officially teamed up to integrate Touch ‘n Go’s RFID technology directly into the all-new Proton X50. The partnership, sealed through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marks the first PROTON model to roll off the production line with the tech built in. 

Proton New Energy Technology (PRO-NET), a subsidiary of PROTON, is pulling out all the stops to build buzz around its second all-electric entry—the Proton e.MAS 5, touted as Malaysia’s most anticipated entry-level EV. The brand officially kicked off its MISI 5 Tour this August, a three-month nationwide roadshow designed to introduce the car in real-life settings before its full launch later this year.

Proton has officially launched Lumo, a new privacy‑centric AI assistant, with the Lumo Plus plan priced at USD12.99 per month (approximately RM59). The tool is now accessible on web browsers and mobile apps, offering both free and paid tiers for users in Malaysia and worldwide.

Proton’s electric push continues to gain momentum as the Proton e.MAS 7 secures a commanding 23.4% market share, solidifying its position as Malaysia’s No. 1 EV model for the sixth consecutive month in 2025.

Back in May 2025, PRO-NET, a subsidiary of Proton, unveiled its new PROTON e.MAS 5 as a new affordable compact EV for the Malaysian market. While there is no price tag yet, the EV was recently previewed under camouflage and is set for a Q4 2025 launch.

Proton New Energy Technology Sdn Bhd (PRO-NET), a subsidiary of Proton, today announced several updates to the Proton e.MAS 7, Malaysia’s best-selling electric vehicle (EV). These include new exterior and interior colour options, as well as support for wired and wireless Apple CarPlay.

Proton has announced plans to localise key vehicle components—namely advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), braking, lighting, and HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) systems—through partnerships with Geely-affiliated suppliers.

Today, PRO-NET unveiled its new PROTON e.MAS 5, which made a debut in a camouflaged wrap at the country’s largest automotive showcase at MAEPS Serdang. The company also confirmed that it will launch in Q4 2025.
