Recently, Malaysia’s Proton CEO, Li Chunrong said that Proton could be coming out with their first electric vehicle or EV “very soon”. Whether or not this means we could see said Proton EV appear commercially in 2024 or 2025 has yet to be revealed, so there are obviously no exact Malaysia release dates just yet.

The International Trade and Industry Ministry (MITI) has revealed that it would be discussing with national car manufacturers Proton and Perodua on expediting the production of electric vehicles (EVs). Its minister, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz said that both companies would produce national EVs and introduce affordable EVs to Malaysians.

Chinese car giant Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co. Ltd (Geely) has recently launched a batch of satellites to orbit Earth that are designed to connect the next generation of fully-autonomous cars. The satellites may also potentially be used for any future autonomous cars by Malaysian national car Proton as Geely holds a 49.9 percent stake in the company.
