Previously, we shared how the Federal Government will no longer offer free tolls during festive seasons starting this year, with a more targeted approach to be implemented in its place. Accordingly, the recent Chinese New Year celebration saw a 50% toll discount for travellers, and the Works Ministry has confirmed that this would be implemented for other festive seasons in 2025.

Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi has announced that there will no longer be any toll-free travel during festive seasons in our country starting this year. This means that the upcoming Chinese New Year holidays and other festive celebrations won’t see any toll waivers nationwide like in past years.

The Public Works Ministry has announced that users of the West Coast Expressway (WCE) who go through the Section 1 toll plaza (Banting Interchange) will be enjoying free toll for a month. The free toll starts from Merdeka Day tomorrow (12.01am 31 August) until 11.59pm 29 September.

Well, another major announcement was made in regard to breaking Touch ’n Go’s monopoly, whereby users of 5 highways will be able to pay tolls using debit and credit cards by this September.

Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi has announced that 12 more Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology lanes will be added by PLUS Expressway Berhad by mid-April this year. This is following complaints by highway users that a lack of RFID lanes is causing congestion at toll plazas.
