Contrary to what many sites have been parroting and what some have plainly assumed, Huawei and UL Benchmarks (formerly known as Futuremark) have come out with a joint statement confirming that there was no cheating involved with the Kirin 970 equipped honor play. Instead, it is due to the AI or Artificial Intelligence powered Kirin 970 automatically increasing the performance (by activating “Performance Mode”) when it detected the need for it, in this case when the 3DMark benchmark was run.

Huawei teases that the upcoming Huawei Mate 20 Pro will be coming with a larger battery than its predecessor. According to the image courtesy of pocket-link.com, the battery of the upcoming Huawei device will be larger than 4000mAh. Paired up with the upcoming Huawei In-house processor, the HiSilicone Kirin 980 chipset featuring the Neural Processing Unit, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro will see a huge improvement in terms of battery life, comfortably pushing the usage per charge to more than a or two day assuming my theories are correct.

OpenKirin is a project to bring stock Android ROMs as well as other ROMs such as the LineageOS, Resurrection Remix OS, and CarbonOS into the Huawei and Honor ecosystem. As for now, the project currently supports 17 phones and tablets that are running the EMUI 8, notably the Huawei Mate 10, Huawei Mate 10 Pro and the Honor View 10. Unfortunately the project only lasts until 22 July 2018 so be quick if you’re interested in flashing your EMUI devices. You can check out the complete list of supported devices and downloadable ROMs on the OpenKirin website as well as guides to install the custom ROMs as well.

According to inside sources, Huawei has claimed that the HiSilicon Kirin 1020 chipset is about 2 times as fast as the HiSilicon 970 chipset present in plenty of Huawei’s smartphones, such as the Huawei P20 Pro, Honor 10, as well as the Huawei Mate RS just to name a few.

After the announcement of Huawei's GPU Turbo, slides from mydrivers have appeared indicating that the first Huawei smartphone to get the GPU boosting technology may be the Huawei Mate 10 series on top of other updates. As a refresher, GPU Turbo increases the efficiency of the GPU coupled together with EMUI to help make the overall device 60% more efficient and reduce power consumption by up to 30% as well.

A leaked 2018 Huawei product roadmap has revealed that there will be series of Honor phones coming each quarter of 2018 starting with the Honor 1 up until the Honor 4 along with codenamed devices (Maya, Salina ~ could these be Nova phones?) on top of the next Huawei P Plus, P and P Lite expected in Q2 2018. The next Huawei Mate series will have a Mate Pro and Mate Lite in Q4 2018 while a Huawei A2 Band wearable will be coming in Q1 2018.

As the Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro officially arrived in Malaysia, rumours about Honor's next smartphone, the Honor V10 are circulating. They say it may have Mate 10 Pro-like features such as the Kirin 970 processor, 6GB RAM, 64GB/128GB storage, a 5.99-inch 18:9 aspect ratio fullview display and 16MP + 20MP dual rear cameras from 3000 Yuan (~RM1914).
