The BlackBerry PlayBook isn't just the third major tablet platform to launch, or the first one to deeply poke at figuring out why 7-inch tablets should exist—it's literally the future of BlackBerry, since the QNX-based OS is going to be the gooey software heart of BlackBerry phones in the next year or so. This is not a bad thing.
BlackBerry Playbook - Design & Build:
The BlackBerry PlayBook feels good in your hands, thanks to a soft-touch backside. RIM’s slate is a hair thinner than the original Samsung Galaxy Tab but is an ounce and a half heavier (14.9 vs 13.4 ounces). Still, you can easily slip the PlayBook in a purse or jacket pocket, something you can’t do with the iPad 2.

Could a no-name cheapie really rival Apple's all-conquering iPad or Samsung's Galaxy Tab 2? Of course it can't. But if you're in the market for a seven-inch Android tablet this one might be worth a look, especially if the networks offer it with a hefty subsidy.
Huawei IDEOS S7 Slim Tablet isn't as obscure as you might think
You might not recognise the name, but Huawei makes decent branded phones for customers such as Orange, T-Mobile and also a lot of networking stuff in Malaysia, so it's already quite a big player in portable computing. The same firm is currently promising to build an entire mobile network in the London Underground in time for the Olympics.[ Read More ] -

The new Acer Iconia Tab A500 is one a slew of Android devices aiming to find its niche in a world currently dominated by the Apple iPad 2. What sets the Iconia Tab apart from its competition is primarily its price - cheaper than the iPad 2. That makes it an option for those looking for an Android tablet on a budget, but not enough of a break to sway many people away from the iPad 2.
Acer Iconia Tab - Design & Build:
The Acer Iconia Tab A500 is a very nice looking device, with a brushed aluminum back that wraps around onto the front panel. But the Iconia Tab also has the unfortunate distinction of being the heaviest Android table on the market at 1.69 pounds. While the Iconia Tab is only .05 pounds heavier than the Motorola Zoom, it is a full 5oz heftier then the LG G-Slate and nearly 6oz heavier than the iPad 2.

Overall, we are quite pleased with the Acer Iconia Tab A501 specs. Acer has managed to input some of the latest technology inside the Acer Iconia A501, and it shows in our Acer Iconia A501 review unit, making it one of the high end Android tablets available on the market to date.
Acer Iconia Tab - Design & Build:
We have the Acer Iconia A501 review unit on our hands and to be frank, at first we think that the Iconia Tab is a plain-looking Android tablet. But all of that soon to change as we play around with the Acer Iconia A501. The Android honeycomb tablet has a very sturdy body, and you can find the backside of our Acer Iconia Tab review unit wrapped in aluminum. The curvey backside of the Acer Iconia A501 add some comfort when we hold them. On the side of our Acer Iconia A501 review unit there are ports, including HDMI-out, USB, and headphone jack. MicroSD slot can be found at the top.

If there's one thing we like better than gadgets, it's accidentally breaking gadgets. Why, just today we pulled the headphones out of an Acer Iconia Tab A100 tablet, and broke the case. Needless to say, we spent several minutes giggling like a naughty schoolboy, then popped it back and ran off to the nearest Wi-Fi hotspot to tell you all about it.
In Acer's defence, the A100 we saw was a pre-production version, and had probably been manhandled more times than an ageing courtesan: it was a demo version of the forthcoming 7-inch Android tablet being shown off, and from the looks of them they're probably not very gentle.
Acer Iconia Tab A100 - Design & Build:
Breakages aside, the A100 looks like a neat little tablet on paper. It's packed with features and connections, including HDMI, USB and mini-USB. It can output high-definition video to your TV and is powered by a dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor.
