Samsung's CEO DJ Kon has said in a press conference held recently in Taipei. He has reported that the S8 and S8 Plus has sold 15% higher than their predecessor and it is expected to continue rising for two more quarters of 2017.

Despite record breaking pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 plus, rumours are saying that due to less sales compared to the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 could get an early release on 10 September 2017. According to the rumoured numbers from South Korean The Bell, Samsung sold 9.8 million Galaxy S8 and S8 plus sets compared to the 12 million Galaxy S7 and S7 edge sets sold during the same 2 month period after launch for a 20% decrease in sales. Considering that the Galaxy S7 edge actually sold more in Malaysia this probably doesn't impact Samsung Malaysia as much as the rest of the world but an earlier global release would still mean we get the Galaxy Note 8 earlier as well.

- Samsung Galaxy S7 ~ old RRP RM2699 new RRP RM2199

Today, it was announced by Design Awards that Samsung Electronics has won 49 iF Design Awards, including one Gold Award, at the world-renowned International Forum Design Awards 2017. Thirty-five of the awards were given for superior product design, four for professional concept design, seven for communication design, and three for packaging design.

GSMA have announced that the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge has been awarded the Best Smartphone 2016 for this year's MWC 2017. Previously named the best smartphone for last year's MWC, this year the Galaxy S7 edge went up against the Huawei P9, Apple iPhone 7 Plus, Google Pixel XL and Moto Z.

Samsung Pay officially launches in Malaysia for more Samsung phones and more banks and loyalty cards
Feb 24, 2017After the preview with Maybank and Samsung Pay, Samsung Malaysia Electronics has officially launched their contactless electronic wallet Samsung Pay for more Samsung phones (Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy Note5, Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy A7 2016, Galaxy A5 2016, Galaxy A5 2017 and Galaxy A7 2017) and more supported banks. While Maybank is still the only bank that supports debit and prepaid cards, CIMB, Citibank and Standard Chartered credit cards are now supported on Samsung Pay. Hong Leong bank is expected to join the pack shortly with other banks set to join up eventually.

After some teasing, it appears that Samsung Galaxy S7 edge and Galaxy S7 users here in Malaysia can update their phones to Android 7.0 Nougat. The update requires a 1.318GB download so try to make sure you're on WiFi for the update. Also make sure you have enough space to work with, which is usually double that of the download itself and if you haven't got the automatic update, just check manually (that's what we did).

The Black Pearl S7 edge will be available in Malaysia tomorrow (12 January 2017) at a recommended retail price of RM3399 (inclusive of GST), while the Note5 64GB variant is now being offered starting today at the recommended retail price of RM2399 (inclusive of GST) in three colour options – Silver Titanium, Gold Platinum and Black Sapphire at participating Samsung Experience Store outlets.
