Previously, we reported on the Ministry of Transport’s (MOT) plan to allow users to pay for public transportation in our country with debit and credit cards. Further breaking Touch ’n Go’s monopoly is the Works Ministry’s decision to allow toll payments via the same methods.
Well, we may get an announcement for when this open payment system would be implemented in both soon. This after Pay with Debit recently teased the matter via its official social media accounts.

Well, another major announcement was made in regard to breaking Touch ’n Go’s monopoly, whereby users of 5 highways will be able to pay tolls using debit and credit cards by this September.

Now, despite a change of federal government and another Minister at the helm, the plan would be continued and negotiations with relevant parties would be expedited.

Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi has announced that 12 more Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology lanes will be added by PLUS Expressway Berhad by mid-April this year. This is following complaints by highway users that a lack of RFID lanes is causing congestion at toll plazas.

The Works Ministry (KKR) has announced that it will introduce a non-stop toll collection system known as Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) by the year 2025. With MLFF, vehicles do not need to stop to pay tolls as there would not be any boom barriers, thus reducing congestion at toll plazas.

Google is updating its Google Maps platform with a slew of helpful new features that would make your journey easier and more convenient. These include showing users toll prices before they start navigating and even display traffic lights on the selected route.
Shared by Google Maps Proudct Manager, Rubén Lozano-Aguilera in a blogpost yesterday, toll prices for nearly 2000 toll roads in Indonesia, Japan, India and the US will start to be shown this month. Furthermore, it will make its way to other countries, including Malaysia ‘soon’.
